DR Corrosion Ltd is led by Directors, Robert Meechan and Paul McCrossan with a combined experience of over 30 years – Robert, a highly skilled IRATA Level 3 Rope Access Safety Supervisor with over 18 years level 3 and corrosion control experience with a distinguished career marked by his ability to successfully lead teams on challenging, high-stakes projects. His expertise encompasses complex fabric maintenance campaigns including management, coating QA/QC inspections and rigging operations, executed within highly regulated, time-critical, and safety-sensitive environments. Robert effectively manages projects, leveraging his extensive experience to proactively address issues, resolve problems, and inspire his teams to deliver exceptional results on deadline. He employs a visible and inclusive leadership style, fostering a culture of safety and excellence in every project he undertakes.
Paul, a vastly experienced level 3 Coatings professional who has learned the business from the ground up starting as a rope access painter/ blaster that has consistently excelled in every role undertaken. This progression enabled advancement from rope access painter to fabric maintenance supervisor, focal point, and coatings superintendent. Paul is passionate about being hands on from the surveying, planning, costing to execution stage of project completion which led to promotion to fabric maintenance operations and coordination manager during his time at Kaefer UK.
Robert Meechan - With a career demonstrating a commitment to excellence and the ability to thrive in demanding industries, Robert has consistently delivered strong results in increasingly complex roles across a range of significant projects across the North Sea, Holland, Norway, Azerbaijan and Qatar.
Robert's experience includes:
- Successfully leading teams of up to 30 skilled rope access technicians specializing in surface preparation, coating application and rigging,as an IRATA Level 3 QA/QC Coatings inspector Safety Supervisor in Offshore Aberdeen, UK Wind Sector and Holland (Mar 2021 - Present). His responsibilities included QA/QC reporting, RAMS preparation, and seamless coordination between offshore and onshore management, ensuring the efficient and safe execution of all work scopes and work packs.
- Managing teams of 20+ rope access technicians in the execution of fabric maintenance and rigging scopes in Azerbaijan Baku (Oct 2017 - 2021). He adhered to stringent quality control processes and standards, including company procedures, lift plans, and BP protocols. His role encompassed work pack preparation, setup, supervision of working practices, and comprehensive reporting to both onshore and offshore management, as well as QA/QC reporting, delivery of Tool Box Talks, and ensuring compliance with Permit conditions.
- Successfully managing diverse work scopes on the Clyde and Thistle Offshore Platforms (Jan 2017 – Oct 2017), including Jacket FM, FM structural and piping work, insulation projects, and DROP survey and rigging operations. He cultivated strong relationships with colleagues to maximize work quality, effectiveness, and efficiency and ensured that deliverables met high-quality standards and project schedules were maintained.
- Conducting internal inspections and repairs of the chimney, directing the erection of head rigs for rope access and rigging equipment, and overseeing the change-out of flare tips at the Tjelbergodden Statoil Site in Norway (Apr 2016 – Nov 2016). His responsibilities included managing the removal of old rock wool insulation, and the blasting, coating, and re-instatement of new rock wool and cladding.
- Providing safety leadership and supervision for LOLER lifting equipment inspectors and rigging teams working at height in the North Sea (Sep 2015 – Mar 2016).
- Communicating work scopes and schedules and ensuring their completion on the Gwynt y Môr Wind Farm project (Jul 2015 – Sep 2015). He also prepared essential documentation, including daily reports, timesheets, rescue plans, TBTs, rope hours, and manifests.
- Managing FM and CUI projects offshore, ensuring adherence to Premier Oil procedures and safe working practices at Premier Oil Balmoral FPV (May 2012 – Jun 2015). His responsibilities included delivering Tool Box Talks, raising ISSOW TRA & Permits, producing coating & insulation reports, managing equipment and material ordering, updating FM & CUI trackers, and assisting the Company Planner. He also supervised specialist vendors when the shutdowns were planned.
- Promoting team involvement in HSE activities, delivering Tool Box Talks, preparing Rescue Plans, and executing task-based risk assessments at Cormorant Alpha, North Cormorant and Tern Alpha (Mar 2011 – Mar 2012). He also maintained high standards of cleanliness and safety, utilising specialized tools and equipment to prepare substrates as per standards and inspection test plans..
- Earlier in his career, Robert was a Rope Access Team Leader L3 in the North Sea and Rotterdam (Jan 2009 – Mar 2011).
Paul McCrossan - his career has allowed personal and professional growth in the UK and international overseas roles taking him from the North Sea, to Angola, Nigeria and New York to name a few. Some notable roles have been;
- Apave/ Boskalis - Senior Coatings Inspector – Orsted Revolution 1 Wind Farm - Rhode Island, USA.
Rope access coating inspection and coordination of legacy monopile reworks. Daily planning meetings attended for workflow plans. Compiled detailed inspection reports. Inspected coatings and ensured that requirements/technical specifications were met. Identified and reported defects, working to quality control processes and standards.
- Wescott Industrial Services Ltd - Fabric Maintenance Supervisor / Senior Coatings Inspector - Dogger Bank C Wind Farm - Mar 2025 – Jun 2025
Supervisory responsibility for day-to-day duties of a multi skilled FM team. Attended daily progress and planning calls with the onshore leadership team. Prepared progress reports to ensure that work is completed as per the project plan. Inspected coatings and ensured that requirements/technical specifications were met. Identified and reported defects, working to quality control processes and standards. Prepared and submitted daily reports to client.
- BAE Systems / Wescott - Fabric Maintenance Supervisor/ Senior Coatings Inspector - BAE Barrow in Furness Jan 2025 – Mar 2025
Led a multi-skilled team, monitored performance and ensured the consistent achievement of project objectives. Inspected applied coatings including monitoring/recording of all environmental conditions as well as salt contamination. Produced documentation including paint reports and QA/QC reports. Ensured compliance to health and safety requirements. Prepared and submitted daily reports to client. Reviewed and inspected FM activities including monitoring material levels.
- Dickermans Overseas - Coatings Superintendent - ExxonMobil FPSO – Nigeria - Oct 2024 – Jan 2025
Provided leadership to local Nigerian FM contractors ranging from 60-124. Successfully overhauled the scope planning for 2025 FM campaign. Introduced leaner methods for scope execution, as well as ITP’s and reviewed all quality control for Q 4 2024 FM campaign.

- PIC Pinturas Fabric Maintenance Supervisor/ Coating Inspector – Erha FPSO, Kaombo Norte FPSO – Angola - Dec 2023 – Aug 2024
Served as Offshore focal point for PIC fabric maintenance campaign in Angola on the N’Goma FPSO. Ran a squad of 60 local labour UHP/Coating technicians across a wide variety of FM scopes to extend the field life of the vessel. Created permits and work plans, conducted Risk Assessments to identify, isolate and eliminate work hazards.

Planned upcoming scopes for all trades, prioritizing when and where each trade will be required. Ensured the delivery of work with agreed quality, fixed price contract model and timeframe. Organised Safe Systems of Work and Rescue Plan coordination, conducting Risk Assessments to identify, isolate and eliminated work hazards. Operated in compliance with industry health and safety requirements.
- KAEFER UK - Fabric Maintenance Operations Manager, Balmoral, Mariner A+B, Haewene Brim FPSO, Aoka Mizu FPSO, BP Clare. Mar 2020 – Jan 2022
Led a team of team of 30+ multi trade professionals over 6 offshore installations to deliver fabric maintenance scopes throughout the North Sea. Attended daily progress/safety meetings between to ensure all progress/budget milestones are reached safely and on time. Monitored the day-to-day process of the operational needs of the business. Conducted surveying/work pack engineering. Encapsulated all facets of the coating inspection team into our daily planning calls to set expectations. Carried out in office post scope de-briefs with all coating inspectors, audited all inspection reports.
- KAEFER UK - Fabric Maintenance Supervisor/ Focal Point / Coating Inspector Bluewater assets (the Aoka Mizu and Haewene Brim FPSO’s)- Jan 2019 – Mar 2020
Prepared all FM work packs for the upcoming FM and subsequent PFP campaigns on the Shell Haewene Brim FPSO, Equinor Mariner A and B. Identified, planned and scheduled work scopes for Campaign FM activities in to meet planned milestones and targets. Invited by senior management to attend various onshore meetings to be the offshore representation. Maintained close working with onshore and offshore management teams as well as company and client representatives.
- Stork - Rope Access Coating Inspector - Rough 3B Jun 2018 – Dec 2018
Led a team of painters on the completion of work scopes and ensured job cards reached the required standard. Attended daily reporting meetings with the Centrica Rep and Offshore Integrity Engineer to allow planning for general and fabric maintenance for the shutdown. Addressed various quality control issues through detailed inspection.
- Cape Plc Fabric Maintenance Foreman / QAQC Coating inspector - Various Assets - Jun 2013 – Jun 2018
Progressed from Rope Access Painter to become FM Foreman. Supervised teams working on the BP Magnus, BP Andrew, Leman 27 Alpha and the Cleeton. Applied and implemented Lean techniques to help reach targets and attain KPI’s.
